Christmas in Paris 2010

Tuesday 04 January 2011 at 5:30 pm Paris, Christmas 2010

As Ernest Hemingway once wrote, “If you are lucky enough to have lived in Paris as a young man, then wherever you go for the rest of your life, it stays with you, for Paris is a movable feast.” And while I don't disagree with Papa, I would amend "to have lived in Paris as a young man" to "to get to visit Paris for the week before and including Christmas Day due to time off from work due to several days furlough, and enough cash in the bank to pay for a couple of airplane tix and a hotel, plus of course croissants and quiche and the occasional Greek sandwich."

Worked for us, anyway -- we had the chance to visit Paris this year at Christmastime and to say we had a good time is like saying Papa Hemingway liked to take notes. In other words, it was fabulous, fabulous I say!

Of course, if you're going to visit the City of Lights, it doesn't hurt to bring a camera. And when you get back, feel free to post a whole bunch of photos that you took while you were there, along with a few bon mots of commentary, just because it's fun to share. Though as Papa also wrote, prose is architecture, not interior decoration, and the Baroque is over, so I'm gonna shut up now and let you see for yourself.
